Our Pre Competitve swimming sessions are 60 minutes on length and offer the opportunity for those swimmers who have achieved a stage 7 badge or above to be able to continue swimming on a regular basis, in order to complete stages 8, 9 & 10. The pre competitive section of Strokes Ahead enables children to focus on the technique and efficiency of all four of the swimming strokes (Frontcrawl, Backstroke, Breaststroke & Butterfly). The sessions are mainly aimed at a competitive swimming route and therefore offers progression into local clubs. In these sessions, children will work on aspects such as diving, tumble turning, and increasing their overall stamina by swimming further and further each week.
In Stage 1 your child will develop basic movement skills, water confidence and safety awareness. They will also develop confidence and be introduced to movement sequences in the water for a distance of 5 metres with/without aids, equipment or support.
In stage 2, your child will develop safe entries to the water and will continue to practice floating, travel and rotation in the water. Your child will also develop further water confidence in order to travel 10-15 metres on the front or back without aids, equipment or support
